Blood donors beware

The National Institutes of Health have determined that maintaining optimum levels of iron in the blood is especially important. They estimate that 25-35% of regular donors develop and iron deficiency that can lead to fatigue and anemia. Their recent studies have been quite revealing with people taking low dose iron supplements returning to pre-donation levels 7-18 weeks earlier than those who did not receive the supplementation.Bottom line- maintain those optimum IRON levels if you are planning on donating so that you can feel and be your best after your donation!
